The McGuigan family's involvement
in the Hunter Valley's wine industry begins with Perc McGuigan,
who was vineyard manager with Penfolds at their Dalwood Estate property
in the Upper Hunter from the 1940's to the 1960's. The following
decade, Perc's son Brian followed in his father's vinous footsteps
and founded the Wyndham Estate brand. From there, Brian and Fay
launched Brian McGuigan Wines Limited in 1992 - starting again from
scratch in the Hunter Valley. From a zero sales base, in little
over a decade, sales are over one million cases, about 50% of which
is sold into the International market. The company today has extensive
vineyard holdings in New South Wales & South Australia and sources
premium fruit from many quality areas. The company's commitment
to quality fruit and wine production has seen McGuigans produce
outstanding wines for both the domestic and international wine consumers
for prices that reflect excellent value for money.
